e were contacted by a client in Corfe Mullen who required materials to undertake a DIY front and back garden landscaping project. The ambitious project would see the front drive transformed into a modern rockery using sleepers to create a stepped effect, whilst decking, paving, steps and artificial grass would be added to the back garden.

Front Garden

Prior to the project, the right hand side of the driveway used to be completely soil. The client used soil (supplied by ourselves) to build up the side wall, before using our oak sleepers to create the stepped effect. The steps were then filled in using grey cobbles and various plants; large rocks were added to complete the effect.

Back Garden

For the back garden, the client again used our oak sleepers and soil to create a stepped effect, as well as raised flower beds. Once leveled, the steps were then covered with artificial grass, whilst the raised flower beds were covered with the same grey cobbles used in the front garden and decorated with large rocks, trees and shrubs.

To better illuminate the garden at night and create a warmer atmosphere, outdoor lights were integrated into the the sleeper steps. Finally, the client installed new decking and paving in order to complete the overall look. Whilst not supplied by MB Wilkes, the paving used by the client bears a striking resemblance to our Classic Brown Stone Paving.

Our oak sleepers and soil went a long way in helping this client create the perfect front and back garden to complement their home.
