Why should you invest in recycled aggregate?

Going second-hand for your aggregate can save money and the planet, as our gravel experts explain with their top tips

We live in an age where most products can be bought second-hand. Aggregate is no different: at MB Wilkes, we supply a range of recycled aggregate that would otherwise go to landfill, so read on to find out why it can be useful for your project.

Recycled aggregate conserves resources

Most of us are more environmentally conscious than ever and doing our bit has never been easier. Using recycled aggregate is just one way that you can invest in a reprocessed product: by using it, you’re reducing pressure on landfill capacity as well as preventing more natural resources from being used. It’s a sustainable alternative to buying new and a good opportunity to do a little good for the planet.

You can make cost savings

As you might expect, the cost of buying recycled aggregate is more affordable than using brand new. It’s far less expensive to use recycled aggregate and if you buy local, you’re also saving money on transportation costs. You can save a lot of money by investing in recycled aggregate and there isn’t too much of a noticeable difference between buying new and buying second-hand.

Ideal for drainage and other projects

Recycled aggregate is extremely versatile and can be used in a wide range of projects. Most often used in drainage, recycled aggregate is also suitable for paths, driveways and borders in your garden. Whilst you may expect it not to be as durable as new aggregate, there’s actually not much of a difference: recycled aggregate is just as hard-wearing and able to stand up to heavy traffic.
