Gravel has been used as a driveway material for years and it’s not hard to see why. It’s strong, long-lasting, weatherproof, natural and provides an attractive entranceway to your home.
A particularly popular choice of gravel for drives is our 20mm shingle. A collection of different sized and shaped stones, our shingle also varies in colour, from black to gold to white. If you’re looking for something a little different, then try our red granite gravel. Its distinctive terracotta colour creates a real impact.
Absolutely! We have a range of different landscaping gravels that can be used for various purposes throughout the garden. For example, our Blue Slate Gravel is ideal for lining pathways and our pretty Flamingo Chippings work well in decorative borders. Our limestone gravel provides excellent gravel for your paving subbase. It comes in various sizes to suit a number of requirements and applications.
Yes, gravel provides an effective base for drainage. There are a number of ‘classes’ for drainage bedding which are designed to suit various ground conditions, pipes and loadings. At MB Wilkes, we are gravel experts and are more than happy to help you find the gravel that’s right for your needs.
Yes, we stock 10mm and 20mm ballast consisting of shingle mixed with washed grit for use in mixing concrete for either precast concreting i.e. slabs (10mm) or general concreting (20mm). We also stock cement and sand.
Yes, we are happy to provide gravel samples but please note there is usually a small charge for delivery. You can also pop into our depot to browse our selection in person. We are located on the A350 between Sturminster Marshall and Corfe Mullen and are open Monday-Friday 7am-4.30pm and Saturday 7am-12pm.
